This morning at 09:06 hours Engine 62-1 was alerted to assist Station 61(Upper Leacock) on a Motor Vehicle Crash with Entrapment in the 3000 block of West Newport Road. Units arrived to find one vehicle that had left the roadway after a curve in the road on it's side up against a barn with the driver trapped. Engine 62-1's crew arrived and was instructed to stabilize the vehicle. Crews placed 1 handline in service and stablized the vehicle. Once stabilization was complete the crews pulled rescue tools from Engine 62-1 and worked togeather with the crew from 61 to extricate 1 patient.

Earlier in the morning, the crews handled an automatic fire alarm and the night before assisted with an apartment building fire in Upper Leacock Township that turned out to be burnt food left on the stove. These 3 calls were the only calls handled during the Hurricane. Throughout the time Sandy was affecting the area, Witmer had multiple crews avaliable staying at the station, should the need for them arise, allowing a quick response during a time that could have yielded more emergencies then it did. We are thankful everyone stayed safe, and thank everyone who took precautionary measures to prepare for the storm.
